Welcome to the new 'Tomb Raider Secrets section'. This section of my site includes all the tips and tricks that are included in the game and don't require cheating. I have included the secrets and tricks for all the current tomb raider games out (1, 2, ,3 and 4) As usual this section will be regularly updated to make it your #1 source! Every time I discover a new secret it will be added to this section.

A Hand stand can be done in all of the Tomb Raiders. To do one you must first hang off a ledge. Now Press: UP, SQUARE and R1 all together. Lara will now do a hand stand on top of the platform she was hanging off.

During the game press: UP, SQUARE and R1. Lara Will do a dive and if your not near any water she will do a diving roll on the floor.

To get inside Lara's secret room the first thing is to make sure the mansion
front door is open and now go to the hedge maze and enter, turn right to the
brick wall, turn left, left, right, right, right, left to the second brick
wall, follow it and turn left, right, right to the third wall, follow it and
turn left, right, right, left to the fourth wall , follow it to the second
left and go down the hole, turning left , climb out, push the button between
the statues and make you're way back through the hole , turn left along the
brick wall, then left, left, right, left, right, left, the first right,
right, left, second left, right, right, left, and finally turn right to exit
the maze. Now you must head back to the mansion and get past the door on the
right side hallway before it closes and the treasure room is just down the
stairs.

(This trick works for both Playstation and PC versions) On the assault course
go to the last obstacle which is the zip line tower, climb up the net to the
top, walk to the edge (don't use the zip line), now side step right as far as
you can go against the tower wall and turn about 45 degrees facing the outer
mansion wall, part of Lara's arm should go through the wall, now jump
straight up and while in the air hold up and the look button. After doing
this about three or more times Lara should appear on the top of the tower,
now you can jump to the mansion wall and get on top of the swimming pool
roof, the hedge maze, and outside of the mansion gate. Once you are outside
you have to restart the game to get back in.

On the assault course climb the tower facing the bathroom window. Make a
running jump to the wall with the bathroom window. Grab the edge of the
window, you'll be able to climb through it into the bathroom. Also the butler
can't come into the mansion anymore. That's good!

To do this trick you need to dive off a high area, to dive hold down walk and
jump while pushing forward, now push the roll button during the dive to add a
summersault spin to her graceful swan dive.

Finish the game with all the secrets (Yes absolutely every one of them!) You will then access a secret level called 'All hallows' If you get onto this level e-mail me because I would like to hear of someone who has.

I got onto All Hallows in TR3, and was very excited at the prospect of finding out what happens at the end of it.. I found it a bit disappointing though because after all my toil in this very scary St-Paul's type-place, the climax of the level is Lara's discovery of a treasure room that you only glimpse before the level ends. It is an atmospheric level though, involving good climbing and jumping skills - you'd better have a good head for heights! One part that confused me, was where Lara jumps from the main tomb pillar to the wall (where the swivelling smaller wall is) . Some scary, urgent music starts up as you jump, and I hear something either closing or opening, I haven't been able to ever locate the source of this sound, or what the sound is. I wonder if any other players have, and can share with the rest of us what it is?

You may not know it but there is a secret room in Lara's mansion in tomb raider 3. Its pretty hard to get into because you have to be a very quick mover. Anyway to get in you have to go to the swimming pool area (By the gym), you will find a switch behind the diving board, push it. A door will open at the bottom of the right staircase. Go to the door that opened and pull the lever. Press O to do a back roll and sprint using R2 to the other door on the opposite side of the room. You will need to do a back roll to get in. In this room you will find the artefacts from other games, for example there is the Dagger of Axen from Tomb Raider I in on of the contains and the Iris is in the other which is in a previous adventure which is featured in Tomb Raider Chronicles (5).

The quad bike track is a excellent part of Lara's mansion in Tomb Raider III. To get to it many people would use the cheat (Available in cheats section) but you can get the key for it without cheating at all and also you can see the parts of Lara's mansion you never realized were there!. To get the key you must go to the library in the masion. The library has a fire place that you can climb up but the only problem is that there is a great blazing fire going in it. To switch off the fire (or put it out, what ever you want to say, lol) you turn a book in one of the book cases as you come in. Just keep pressing X until Lara moves and turns it. Once the fire has gone you can proceed to climb up the fire place to the top! Up there, there is a whole new room and first you must push the block away from your exit run to the room downstairs, the block is in a big gap in the wall, push it out and you will realize you are now in the roof!. Go back into the newly found room and pull the lever, this is where the real skill in moving Lara comes in. You have to sprint into the loft...... down the brick stairs in the loft .......... then run down the main stairway half-way then..... jump over the hand rail (once done, do back roll if needed) sprint yet again to the newly opened door!! PHEW!! Believe me it takes a few goes and now I'll give you the bad news! There's a time lock on the door so that you will only JUST make it into the room. But it's not over yet.... (Your probably looking for the cheat on my site by now!!) You have to go down the stairs and you will come to a room, well actually its a fish tank, a V.BIG fish tank. You have to get in it and then get the key from the bottom of it... (Don't loose your air) Once you have the key climb out and proceed back up the stairs and press the button to open the door. Once back into the main bit of the house you have to open the door, go outside and over near the hedge is a gate. Put the key in the hole and the gate will open!! PHEW!! There is the aquarium on Tomb Raider 3. First start Lara's home and open the door to your left and pick up the flares. Then, go up into the attic and on your right there is a block, push it forward until it won't go anymore. Then, making sure that you leave the attic door open, go into the music room and make a left into the library. On the right hand side of the library, there is a book which you can pull out by pushing action. This will temporarily extinguish the fire. Then if you walk into the fireplace, on the left there is a wall which Lara can climb. Go up it, and when she won't climb any more, go as far right as you can and let go. Then follow the passageway around until you come to a room with a box and a lever. Pull the box towards you once. where the box was, there are now some flares. Climb onto the raised level and go into the deadend hole. Pull out the block from the attic until it forces you to stand on the block that you just moved. go onto the side of the raised level which has the lever on it and push the block out of the way of your escape route (through the attic). Take a breath, then light a flare. Stand by the lever and pull it (you will see a cutscene of a door opening, push O while this is happening) as soon as the cutscene ends, sprint the hell out of there. Where you see the greenlight, that is the attic door, go through and make a sharp turn to the left. Run down as fast as you can and turn right. Just before you hit the balcony bars, jump forwards. Run down stairs (a bit) making sure that you are central to the stairway. Now a quick jump to the right and when you land on the ground floor push O. then quickley run through the door on your right before it closes and pick up the flares. PHEW! made it, now if you push the button on your right, this door will remain open, follow the stairs down until you find the aquarium. Move the block so that it is underneath the hole in the ceiling, climb up into the hole and go take a swim through the hole. Remember where the hole is though otherwise you will drown. Remaining close to the glass wall, follow it round until you see something on the floor - THE RACETRACK KEY! Now once you have gotten out of here, you can go play on the quad bike! Pretty cool eh?

When you start in Cambodia (at the sweet age of 16) look around you for little yellow blocks on the floor. These are golden skulls (the secrets of this game!). You will find them on the floor, in water, in tombs, or even lodged in the wall (for you to remove with the trusty crowbar!) so look out for them throughout the game, and if you have collected them all successfully (there are about 7 in each level!) then you will be given a secret level at the end! This level is loads of fun! ENJOY!

As you may have learned from Tomb Raiders 1, 2 and 3, you cannot swing around corners when hanging off a ledge, BUT, in Tomb Raider The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider Chronicles, as long as the adjacent angle isn't on a slope, you will be able to swing around all of the corners you want to, so if you think you have gotten stuck because you can't swing around a corner, try shimmying around it! Get down in the gorge below the zip line! and there's a secret! (TR 2 Only!) Submitted by: James Hunt

On the first level "the china wall". go trough the level until you come to the end where you have to zip-wire down to the tigers but BUT dont go down on the zip-wire.stand just about where you would activate the zip-wire but turn left take about two steps and then face the edge again but turn your back to the edge and drop and about half way down press x or if you pc version press action and you well hopefully grab on to a crack, once you've done that shimmey right until u can climb up go on through the passage on you well come across a ladder go down and you well be in the valley which you zip-wire across once down the ladder turn right in the valley run until you come across a squared shape passage go in pick up the secret turn round to go out but hold ON

Draw your most powerful weapon, slowly make you way out and then a t-rex comes out ( i don't where from, unless he came down the ladder????) kill it and then you are probaly wondering how to get back to the zip-wire, go back to the ladder go back up but instead of getting of where you got on carry on up you finally reach the top and then i can hear you saying why didn't I go down this ladder at the begin, well you can't because the top of the ladder comes out on a high ledge you can jump down but you can't climb up it. good luck......

How to get on the roofs of Venice (TR2 ONLY) (Not tested) (Submitted by: Ruaridh Frize)

After you exit the sewers, swim right and climb up to the wild gunman. Start attacking with your pistols, jump up and down whilst holding the look button. Now you can explore Venice in a different way!

Additional TR3 Lara Trick (Not tested) (Submitted by: Peter Hayward)

You can do a somersault in tr3 as well, do a swan dive (walk+jump+forward) to add a somersault hold o to add a flip.

TRICK FOR KILLING THE ARMOURED MEN IN THE VCI (TR 5 only) (Submitted by: Ruaridh Frize)

In the VCI, you come across some armoured men, with very powerful laser guns. When you meet one, quickly run around him, for a few times, soon he will have his back to you, this is enough time to set the sniper on him.

To make Lara perform a low-to-ground commando crawl, press crawl (num 1) and then press stealth (enter) and Lara will perform a low crawl which can NOT go through any shallow tunnels that a normal crawl can't go through. WALKOVER In AOD, Lara can still perform a walkover on a ledge, just hang from a ledge, press CTRL, UP and the Look button (num pad 0). Lara will perform a walkover.

When you are hanging off a ledge press R1(draw weapons), R2(look) and circle (jump) and Lara will do a 180 degree turn and drop down.

Secret jump (Chronicles ONLY) (Submitted by: Daniel.A.A (PAPPA D))
IN tomb raider 5 if your close to the ledge on your knees ,(but your head must be facing the ledge)
hold UP & R1 & Sqaure ( sqaure or x can't remember ) you should flip off the ledge nicely .
very quick escape to get away from people , guns ,monsters or what ever.

When on to killing Eckhardt you may find that your low on ammo. You dont need much ammo for him anyway.Just go in to a commando crawl so that his attacks cant hit you.Dont shoot at him or his clones when they are on the outside of the rainbow coloured screen.This just wastes ammo.

When you come out of the mansion turn left and go to the far corner that is by the maze jump up and down until you stand on the edge of her roof.

Go to the Zip line tower in the assault course. Go to the left corner. Jump till Lara's arm is in the wall. Then try t jumping till you get on an Invisible block in the air. WALK here, so you will not fall. Jump to the red block. Then it's hard!
Jump to the low dent of the roof. hopefully you'll be on the roof! then you might be able to get to the quad-bike track!

Go to the side of a ledge/block. Hold CTRL + SHIFT. While holding tap the down arrow. Lara will back flip down the side of the ledge, very cool.

Grad the side of a ledge so Lara is hanging from it. Hold CTRL+SHIFT and tap UP arrow.

How to make Lara shot upside down just like the cradle of life movie (TR2 Only) (Submitted by: Daniel)

The first thing you do is walk to the edge then tap back run forward then do a swain dive( up, square, R1, l1) then press the triangle to get her pistols or what ever you choose as a weapon and press the x button. Note: You need to press the triangle button quickly.

TIP FOR TRAPPING THE FIRST MUTANT (AOD ONLY) (Submitted by: Ruaridh Frize)

When you enter the greenhouse with the water-filled tanks, a cut scene shows
a mutant climbing out of it. Sprint into the greenhouse and go left, then go
up the stairs to the left walkway. Sprint down to the end of the walkway
(facing the way you entered) and slide down. Then go over to the other
walkway and press the look button, You should see the mutant by the slope,
walking but not moving, it is trapped! So now you can do all the tricky
buisness without losing health.

TIP IN THE GREENHOUSE WITH TANKS (AOD ONLY) (Submitted by: Ruaridh Frize)

When you are in the greenhouse, you can avoid getting attacked by the giant
cockroach-like mutants by not killing the first mutant, either try to outrun
the first mutant or try using the trapping tip.

Sprinting crouch (Last Revelation and Chronicles) (Submitted by: Anonymous)

Sprint then while sprinting push crouch. She will roll and duck.

Drive into water from ledge (AOD Only) (Submitted by: Webmaster)

Stand on a ledge next to water (tested in aquatic research facility) and press action (X for PS2 or Alt for PC), Lara dives elegantly into the water!

Start the first level (parisian backstreets) and go to the part where you get the key for the door at the end of the level.Go HALF way down the ladders and back flip and the level wont end ,however you can explore the gated area to your left which leads to part two of the training level. PS: If the level ends you will have to do it again with the weapons you dont retreave in that level EG:do it again with the rigg 09 or another gun that you cant get in that level.

Skidding TR3 only (Submitted by Anon)
when you are sprinting, press the crouch button, and lara will skid to a halt!

Get rid of the butler TR3 only (Submitted by Anon)
To get rid of the butler, get your guns, and at the target bit, shoot him until he falls under the crawlspace ( you will have to direct him) and then he wil get stuck!!
or, open the fridge, run in and wait for winston to come in, then sprint out, skid to a halt ( press crouch while sprinting ) and close the door on him!!

Swan like dive with a flip forward (Submitted by: Amelia Freeland)
Note: this only works in TR1,2,3,4,5,To get Lara to do the swan like dive with a twist u have to make her dive of really Tall Tower/building/ledge (hold R2 to make her dive).
when she has fallen 1/4 of the way press O and she will do a Forward flip.

For infinite money (Angel of Darkness Only) (Submitted by Sonia Silva)
In the Parisian Ghetto,go to Buchard's Hideout and get the diamond ring that's inside.Get out and head stait to the Pawn Shop and pawn it.Go to Bouchard's Hideout again and keep doing this until you have all the money you want!!!

Walk through spikes (All TR) (Submitted by Shayan)
You can walk through spikes by pressing the walk key or crawl key. Its a good manuver for areas in India as well as High Security Compound. Happy tomb raiding!

Back flip on ledge (Angel of Darkness PS2/PC Only) (Submitted by: Zoe Carroll)

Walk to the edge and turn round so you are facing the other way. Hold the walk button and hold down (you won't fall off). Now press the X or CTRL button and she will do a back flip on a edge.

How to 'kill' Skeletons, without wasting ANY ammo (crossbow or revolver) whatsoever- (PC TR:LR only) (Submitted by: Annie Myers)

To conserve ammo for crossbow (and later the revolver), here's a useful bug. Combine the weapon and laser sight and equip the weapon. Then, while holding the Look button to peer through the sight, press the number 1, the hot key for pistols. You'll hear the sound of Lara drawing pistols. Then you'll be able to shoot with the accuracy of the laser sight but with the unlimited ammo of the pistols.

Derelict Apartment Building (Angel of Darkness) PC / PS2 (Submitted by: Eline)

When you are on the ground floor don't go up the stairs but stand in the front of the elevator. Then make a backflip and if your doing it alright you may end up in the elevator. Then you can use the elevator without pulling the switch first. You don't have to use the stairs and the police isn't breaking in.

Great fire rate (TR Chronicles, + Maybe TR4) (Submitted by Bamph)

If you have a Desert Eagle or a Revolver and scope, go into scope mode and press CTRL real fast. That's shooting fast. I managed to shoot 3 shots per second.

Unlimited Ammo (Angel of Darkness PC/PS2) (Submitted by http://www.iespana.es/jonytombraider)
To have unlimited ammo on TR6 you have to be on Von Croy's apartment and there before you pick up anything else pick up the ammo that is betwen the pillar and the chair (at your right when you start the game) and if you pick that first of all that ammo will always be there untill you pick up sometheing else (so if I were you I'll pick up as much as you want before you pick something else)

EXPLODING LARA (Submitted by Sophia)
Hold walk(R2) and step forward, then back once. then press any of the directional buttons to turn in a circle 3 times. Once that is done, back flip and press roll while in mid-air. If successfully done, poor unfortunate Lara will explode.

How to fly around in Lud's Gate (TR3) (Submitted by: guimonc001)
(You can use this trick to fly around on the UPU, or to drive the UPU under
water without loosing any air. There's one catch, enemies can still hurt
Lara, but she can't fire any harpoons to defend herself. Also steering the
UPU after you made the trick work is a bit awkward.)
1. Steer the UPU against a wall
2. Release jump, shortly hit roll and emediately press jump again. If the
trick worked, the air-meter will stop going down.
(If Lara doesn't do anything, you probably hit End a little too soon after
releasing Alt. If Lara lets go of the UPU, you hit End too late, you kept
pressing End too long, or you hit the Alt key too late. The timing of
hitting the keys is essential)

TR4 using lasersight with pistols (pc only) (Submitted by: guimonc001)
1. draw crossbow
2. press and hold look
3. press 1 to draw pistols
ta-da!

How to kill petrified guardians in tr2: floating islands (Submitted by: guimonc001)
PC: before they animate, shoot them with grenades 3 times. when they
animate, they only need one grenade (4 grenades causes the game to crash)
PS: before they animate, shoot them with grenades 4 times. when they
animate, they'll explode

Trapping the butler (TR2 only) (Submitted by larasfan)
To trap the butler in TR2 go into the secret treasure room and he will follow you once he has followed you all the way down the stairs run back up then push the button twice that closes the door as soon as you push the button the second time sideflip toward the door and you should be able to make it out just before the door closes, trapping the butler inside!

How to get onto the balcony in Lara's bedroom (TR2 only) (Submitted by larasfan)
Coax the butler toward the windows near the balcony then run past him so that he turns around and goes through the windows! When he tries to come back in wait untill he is halfway through the window then run to the spot where he is halfway through angle toward the balcony and jump you should be able to go through the window onto the balcony. It may take a few tries, but it's really cool.

Get on the mansion roof (TR2 only) (Submitted by Adam)
In TR2, you can get on the roof of her house. just go in front of her House's door, go on the flowers right where there is a walll, with a window, just walk to the ending of this wall, and turn 45 degrees, start jumping, and you'll find urself on the top, now YOU still have one wall, do the same and now you are on the roof ... YOU MADE IT ! Fell free to explore everything!

TR Music (TR1 + 2 only) (Submitted by evilkipje)
It's not really a secret, but if you put the tomb raider PSX cd in a cd-player, you can hear all the music and sounds from the game! really cool!

Lara's Balcony (TR2 only) (Submitted by kurtis_af)
When you're on the roof of her house, go to the edge that is above her balcony, drop down. You're now on her balcony, that cannot be reached for the bottom, now to get down, start running and you'll find yourself fallen from the balcony unharmed.

Enter house from balcony (TR2 only) (Submitted by kurtis_af)
To enter Lara's house from the balcony, you need to climb the roof first, then go to the egde that's above the balcony, and walk to the corner, (till the 90 degree corner), and fall from there to her balcony, and you'll find urself inside her house.

General Tricks for Tomb Raider (Submitted by kurtis_af)
* When Lara Sprints, let go the forward button, and she'll slide like on a non-flat rock.
* When u dive in the air, make sure that there's water under Lara, dive and while falling draw pistols and shoot, it's a cool view.

Louvre Galleries Respirator Trick (Submitted by Guest)
When you come to the corridor with Morgot Carviers office ,I think, its either the first or the second door on the left, there is a room that has no guards. There will be a glass door, behind it there is a cabinet on the right with respirators in there. Lara says that these will be useful but you cannot get them until there is gas around the place. but to get them early simply press crawl and action, you may need to get up and crouch a few times, but keep pressing action and you should get it. This means in the "galleries under siege" level you already have the respirator and can take time looking around, cause you can get another respirator! cool huh?

Dinosaw on the great wall of China - First Level (TR2 Only) (Submitted by Isobel)
After you have climbed down the ladder, proceed towards a small opening that leads into a huge cavern. Draw your best and most powerful weapon and run into the cavern. When you reach the middle, you will hear and see stomping and roaring. This is a t-rex who isnt very friendly. It might take a while killing him, depending on what type of weapon that you are using. Anyway, when he is dead, run to the end of the cavern take secret 3, the gold dragon. After you have taken it, another t-rex will appear and start to chomp at you. Kill it, then run back up the ladder and proceed down the zip line.

Turn into a dragon! (TR2 only) (Submitted by guimonc001)
Get to level 3 and turn around 5 times, shoot 8 times with the shotgun, jump up 3 times, minimize the Tomb Raider 2 Window, 'dive by with insert 4 times, type in ALT+TAB+Scary, run into a wall and Lara should then turn into a giant dragon.

All weapons in Lara's House (Submitted by: Niclas Holmsten) (TR3Only)
In Tomb Raider 3 you can get all the weapons you can have IN Lara's home. I do not think this is a cheat or a secret, I think it's just a error in the game. Anyway, start a new game. Now finish the level. I propose skipping it by pausing cheat codes (that you can find in the internet) so it goes much faster. In the next level use the cheat code to get all the weapons. When your done skip all the level's in this Jungle, until you get to choose another optional destination. Choose what ever destination you want and commit suicide. I would take London because of the high buildings that makes committing suicide very easy. When Lara is dead you'll soon end up in the main menu again. Now choose to play in Lara's home. And now you're a two-headed Lara with all the weapons. You can use what ever weapon you wish but sometimes she can take up a target board (why I do not know) or get stuck with her arm. If anything of that happens you can do nothing about it except re-start the game and do everything you just did to get all weapons to her home all over again. But it looks kind of funny though when she get stuck with her arm. She's flutter with them like a bird :)

How to kill the guards on floating islands without them waking up (TR2 only) (Submitted by: Tyler Baker)

Too do this stay away from this pest or you and stand on a flat area. take out any gun and aim at him it can be a long time or shortime to kill him.. well it really depends on how strong the gun is . Like the pistols will take a long time and the grenade launcher will take a really short time!!!! now you can kill all the guards with out them wakening try it some time it really works

Hidden Level (AOD only) (Submitted by: Anthony O'shaughnassy) Not Tested
On angel of darkness Eidos had a different plot for the training level but they forgot to delete it and it STILL remains in the game, this is how you access it: Go to the first level in Paris and go to the end of the level where the ladder is. At the bottom the game ends and the level is complete bu instead go only a bit down the ladder until your just by the part of the ladder that triggers the end of the game but instead of dropping you back flip if the level ends try again! but if you do it right the level will not end and you can wander round. What you do is locate some stairs at the left of the ladder then go down them and if you go through the gate in front of you you will find the part of the game they forgot to delete when making the game. There should be an objective to collect a key and open another gate. If the graphics go funny its normal. Anyways it leads you to a parc where you commando crawl through a gate and you approachn a street with a police car in it with the lights on. There should be a street opposite the policecar where there is a guard to take out with your stealth attack. Kill him then go round the corner and the gate will be invisible!!! find the handle and open it and it should lead you to the police station where you need to sneek past a guard and kill him and its done but you need to restart the computer cos you cant exit the level. Cross gaps quicker (AOD only) (Submitted by David (TombRaiderDude))
In Tomb Raider 6, to get across small gaps quicker, instead of hugging the wall and taking only two steps at a time, simply go into stealth mode, then hug the wall, Lara will then quickly walk along the small platform.

Outer-space Flight (AOD only) (Submitted by William Justice)
In Tomb Raider 6, when you have arrived at Praque, after speaking with Luddick, go down the alley where you have to pick up the Hammer that is used to pry open the locked doors. In that small Alley is a glitch of the game, up in the corner, jump and there is an invisible platform you will grab onto, pull up.(If you are not sure which corner, try each corner in that small alley, Lara's jump may look like she hit something due to how fast she falls back down, you found the platform, scoot out from underneath the invisible platform, jump, and you might grab it.) Nothing interesting about the platform, but you are able to jump over that alley wall and you will be falling in black forever, it looks like space (you can only see Lara in the forever fall), it is snowing in Praque, It looks like Lara is in space flying past stars because of the snow. To make it look even neater, instead of jumping over the alley wall, dive and you will look like you are soaring through space.
