PL: What is your favorite score from all of the Tomb Raider games and why?

Peter: The theme tune from Tomb Raider 1 is fantastic and set the standard for many years to come. It's still as fresh today as it was back then.

PL: The music was always a key part of the games. How did it feel to be an integral part of such a famous series?

Peter: Stressful, yet VERY exciting. There's a lot of pressure when trying to write new compositions, for a tried and tested series, without ruining the magic or moving too far from the original score.

PL: Both Tomb Raider’s four and five had an immense collection of music to accompany them, how long does it normally take you to write your music? Did you find it a challenge to produce the amount of tracks for them as you did?

Peter: How long it will take to write a piece of music is very hard to predict. Often it can take forever, sometimes in the blink of an eye. It depends on your current mood. It was definitely a challenge to produce the music though, mainly because of the scale of the project, but there were always enough visuals and references, not forgetting internal feedback, to be able to get it done in a reasonable timescale and to a standard known to Tomb Raider.

PL: As we all know, the Angel of Darkness unfortunately remained unfinished, were there many tracks for the game that couldn’t be incorporated because of this?

Peter: There was one track that wasn't used, although it was included on the Music Promo CD. It is called "Dance of the Lux Veritatis". It wasn't used for two reasons, 1) It didn't have a place in the game and 2) The performance was not up to standard. We had a lot of music to record in a very short amount of time, so we didn't get as many re-takes as we wanted.

PL: The score for Tomb Raider Chronicles stands out as being quite unlike any of the other music that had been created for the previous Tomb Raider games, was it a conscious decision to vary it so much?

Peter: Tomb Raider: Chronicles had a very different feel to the previous episodes. It was darker, so I tried to reflect the music accordingly. Although it did take a different musical direction from previous episodes, there were typical TR type motifs in places where needed.

PL: A lot of the fans are keen to know whether you played any of the Tomb Raider games and which your favorite was?

Peter: I've played them all, although some more than others. I've completed 1,2,3 & 5 but never got round to finishing 4 or Angel of Darkness. 2, 3 and 5 stand out as being the most enjoyable I've played.
